Common Cold or Fall Allergies?

Have you been suffering from itchy eyes, runny nose, or sinus congestion? I’ve seen several patients over the past few weeks with these symptoms. Most people are concerned about getting a cold now that we are getting closer to Fall. However, your symptoms may not be associated with the common cold at all. You might be suffering from Fall Allergies!

Tennessee is on the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA's) list again for one of the most challenging places to live with Fall allergies. Common Fall allergies include ragweed, mold, and dust mites. We’ve not reached the time of year where mold and dust mites are common. Mold is typically found in damp areas including piles of fallen leaves. Dust mites become an issue as we turn on our heater in the Winter.

So, you may have Fall Allergies…now what?!? My go to trick for fighting Spring or Fall allergies is Organic Local Honey. Take a tablespoon every morning for 2 weeks and you’ll be surprised how quickly those symptoms disappear. Local honey fights against local allergies due to the pollination process. The second most important thing you can do is get adjusted. Misalignments of the upper cervical spine can complicate sinus symptoms. In addition, if you have these symptoms make sure to let me know the next time you’re in the office. I have a specific sinus technique that can alleviate sinus congestion.
