Are you sitting at a computer all week long only to spend your weekends doing heavy lifting or yard work? That exact combination of desk work and intense weekend labor is a recipe for severe spinal compression, stiffness, and chronic neck tension.
In our latest clinical demonstration video, we welcome a patient who was experiencing severe tightness in his traps and neck, morning inflammation, and lower back soreness. Working at a bank keeps him glued to a desk during the week, combined with heavy landscaping on the weekends, which left his spine long overdue for deep alignment and decompression.
Watch the full session below to see exactly how we customized his treatment—from full-spine adjustments to a powerful first-time Y-Strap decompression:

The Root Cause: Loss of the Cervical Curve (“Text Neck”)
When looking at the patient’s spinal X-rays, the structural issues became immediately clear. While a healthy spine requires a natural, swooping curve (lordosis) in the neck to distribute weight properly, his cervical spine was completely straight up and down.
A straightened neck curve is incredibly common for anyone dealing with “text neck” or prolonged computer posture. When you lose that curve, your head gets pushed forward, forcing the muscles in your neck and upper back to work overtime just to hold up the weight of your head. This leads to chronic inflammation, muscle spasms, and localized stiffness every morning.
Customizing the Chiropractic Adjustments
Because every patient’s body type and mechanical needs are different, standard clinical techniques must frequently be adapted for maximum comfort and leverage. We walked through several therapeutic stages during this session:
-
Muscle Stimulation: Using a specialized vibration tool to warm up and loosen tight muscle fibers across the traps and upper back before manual manipulation.
-
Mid-Thoracic Adjustments: Adapting manual pressure to safely and comfortably unlock tight segments of the mid-back.
-
Drop Table Work: Utilizing a mechanical drop-table mechanism to gently mobilize the lower back, lumbar spine, and sacroiliac (SI) joints.
-
Side-Posture Lumbar Release: Modifying body leverage and forearm placement to safely deliver a deep release to the lower spine, combating the compression caused by weekend lifting and bending.
The Power of the Y-Strap Decompression
The highlight of the session was the patient’s very first Y-Strap adjustment. The Y-Strap is a specialized decompression tool designed to stretch and elongate the cervical spine along a straight axial line.
By securing the strap at the base of the skull and delivering a controlled, steady pull, we achieve immediate decompression of the compressed discs. The adjustment released a wave of deep, audible cavitations (pops and cracks), instantly creating space between the vertebrae and taking the pressure off the surrounding nerve pathways.
Real Relief and Restored Mobility
Immediately after sitting up from the Y-Strap adjustment, the patient experienced an instant release of pressure. He reported feeling significantly looser, noting a tangible sense of “more space” in his neck and upper back, with completely restored fluid range of motion.
If you’re dealing with a desk job, heavy manual labor, or chronic stiffness that just won’t quit, it might be time to check your alignment and decompress. Don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for more clinical case studies, satisfying adjustments, and chiropractic health tips!
